CB MOVED COURT FOR TI OF GANG RAPE ACUSEDS

Berhampur:Continuing its investigation into the Gopalpur beach gang rape incident,the CAW & CW wing of Odisha CID-Crime Branch,today has moved JMFC(Rural)court in Berhampur,seeking remand and Test Identification(TI)Parade of the ten accused persons of the case.The ghastly crime took place at the beach on sunday night where in a 20 year plus three student was gangerapped.With in couple of hours of the crime,police arrested alll the ten accused persons and forwarded to court.However,the state govt entrusted the Crime Branch to enquire into the incident,taking the incident in Red Flaf catagory.Accordingly,a 8 member team of CAW & CW led by IG,S.Saini reached Berhampur on yesterday for thorough investigation of the case.The team visited the spot and also questioned the rape survivor and her male friend who accompined the victim to Gopalpur beach on the incident day(15/6/2025).The victim,with her male classmate reached the Gopalpur beach at around 6.30 pm to celebrate the Raja festival
and the duo prefered the isolated place,around 1.5 km from the main beach.The accused persons were also sitting around 50 metres away from the spot.At around 8 PM, the group of ten overpowered the male friend and dragged the woman around 50 feet away.Three of the accused persons(Pramod,Baburam and Kunal) raped the woman while seven others helped them by keeping the male captive.They released the duo at around 10 PM,with a threaten not to lodge any complain or else to face dire consequences.
Later,the victim and her friend narrated their ordeal to Gopalpur police at around 11 PM on Sunday night.The Police swang into action immediately and nabbed all the ten accused persons including four juveniles with in couple of hours of the crime.However,the rape survivor who was initially relunctant to lodge written complaint submitted after about 20 hours on monday evening.Based on the complaint lodged by the victim, a case has been registered under Sections 70(1), 296, 351(3), and 310(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).During investigation police came to know that the prime accused Pramod Nayak(23) of Hiundata village under Purusotompur PS in Ganjam,was jailed in two separate cases, attempt to murder and for making bombs,some years back and was out on bail.He wasa BTech dropout was working at an electronics factory in Bengaluru at a monthly salary of Rs 20,000 and had recently returned home on leave.On Tuesday all the ten accused persons six adults sent to jail and the juvenile four produced at Juvenile justice board(JJB).On monday medical examination of the victim and ten accused persons conducted at MKCGMCH and samples of blood and others collected for DNA test.On tuesday the case was declared as Red Flag catagory.As per the red flag rule,the forensic evidence will be given priority for testing at the laboratory,and the collected samples sent to State Forensic Science laborotary(SFSL)at Bhubaneswar,confirmed FMT Professor Sudipta das of MKCGMCH.As per norms the examination report of the samples should available within 48 hours to 72 hours,but not received till late evening today said Prof Das.She also said the rape accused persons has used condom,what the rape survivor told during medical examination.However,it has indicated the accused persons were prepared to commit the crime as well to earse the evidence.She said usually habitual offenders opted for such use,but in the instant case use of condom needs detail investigation.Meanwhile,the CAW & CW wing collected Sand samples, cigarette stubs, and other materials linked to the accused and the survivor from the crime spot.The CAW wing is also planning to take the six adult accused first on remand for questioning and appealed the JMFC court today as per the norms,which would heard tomorrow said sources.
