Paralakhemundi, (Tarini Prasad Panda): In a tragic incident, 21 goats died allegedly after consuming poisonous food while grazing in a forest at Mudumudia village under Mohana block of Gajapati district. According to reports, goat owner Gopinath Gouda had taken the animals for grazing in the nearby forest on Monday evening. The next morning, he found 21 goats dead and five others critically ill in the cowshed.
On receiving information, veterinary doctor Dr. Birendra Panda visited the village, examined the affected animals, and initiated an inquiry. Preliminary investigation suspects poisoning due to toxic food consumption, though the exact cause will be confirmed after post-mortem examination. The loss of the dead goats is estimated to be over Rs 2 lakh.
