India Executes ‘Operation Sindoor’: Strikes Terror Camps in Pakistan and PoK in Retaliation for Pahalgam Attack

In a powerful military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, a series of coordinated pre-dawn airstrikes targeting terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The Indian Armed Forces hit nine high-value terrorist camps linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), using precision-guided standoff munitions while staying within Indian airspace. The operation was closely monitored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had vowed “swift and strong retaliation” following the Baisaran massacre.

Key Targets Destroyed in the Operation:

  1. Bahawalpur (JeM HQ) – 100 km inside Pakistan

  2. Muridke (LeT camp) – 30 km from the border near Samba

  3. Gulpur – 35 km from LoC in the Poonch-Rajouri belt

  4. Sawai (LeT base) – Tangdhar Sector, 30 km inside PoK

  5. Bilal Camp – JeM launchpad

  6. Kotli (LeT camp) – 15 km from LoC, Rajouri sector

  7. Barnala Camp – 10 km from LoC opposite Rajouri

  8. Sarjal Camp (JeM) – 8 km from IB, Samba-Kathua axis

  9. Mehmoona Camp (HM) – 15 km from IB near Sialkot

Confirming the operation’s success, the Indian Army posted on X: “Justice is served. Jai Hind!” The Ministry of Defence clarified that the strikes deliberately avoided Pakistani military installations, focusing only on terror launchpads.

Pakistan’s military spokesperson acknowledged the strikes and alleged India used long-range munitions without crossing the border. While ISPR condemned the action, it also warned of a “response at a time and place of its choosing.”

In the aftermath, India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval briefed U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with Washington stating it is “closely monitoring” the situation.

Precautionary Measures Taken:

Authorities ordered closure of schools and colleges in border districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, and sensitive regions in Punjab and Rajasthan amid fears of retaliation.

‘Operation Sindoor’ marks one of India’s most decisive counter-terror actions since the Balakot strikes of 2019, sending a clear message against cross-border terrorism.
