Paralakhemundi:After around three years,‘cradle baby point'(CBP)installed at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Paralakhemundi of Gajapati district,has received a abondoned boy on yesterday. Gajapati District Child Protection Officer(DCPO)Arun kumar tripathy,said following several instances of abondoning of just borns at risky isolated places the district administration decided to install CBP.In 2022 CBPs has been installed at DHH,CHC and at Special Adoption Centre(SAC)at Ranipentho,with a aim to save the abondoned babies.The CBP,fixed around three feets from the ground and fitted with a bell,to protect the child from stray dog or any other animal.The persons who want to leave their babies at the CBP needs to ring the bell,so that the staffs there can take immediate care of the abondoned baby said Tripathy adding that` We are creating awareness about the CBP and its utility.Tripathy said,yesterday at around 11 am,a staff of SAC was in the DHH and heard cry of a baby.Soon she came out and found the boy of around one year old at the CBP.The boy produced before Child Welfare Samiti,when all searches to trace the person who placed the boy at the CBP proved futile.As per the direction of CWC,the boy was taken for health check up at the DHH.As his condition was good,he was taken to SAC.After two months,the rescued boy will be legally suitable for adoption as per regulations,said Tripathy.He said,Babies left at the CBP are considered as surrendered, while those dumped at unsafe places and rescued later are taken as abandoned.Tripathy said,the district administration is now contampleting to install more CBPs at the hospitals at Mohona, Gumma, Chandragiri, R.Udayagiri, Khajuripada, Damadua, Ramgiri, Guranthi.
