Digapahandi:Driver of a private bus died being crushed by stering in the driver cabin,when the bus hit a restshed at Laxminarayanapur chowk under Digapahandi PS limits in Ganjam district today.The deceased has been identified as Dibakar behera(49),a native of Jankia.The bus left Bhubaneswar last night for B.Turubudi village in the district.While the bus alighteed the passengers on the way at their destinations,with only six passengers,the bus at around 6 am hit the restshed,before reaching its destination at Turubudi.The hitting was so severe that the concrete rest shed collapsed and the driver cabin got mangled.The sound of hitting attracted the locals,who were at tea shops,who ran to the place and also informed the police.Though the locals rescued the six persons from the bus including the standby driver,who sustained minor injuries,but failed to rescue the driver.Soon police with fire fighters reached the scene and rescued Dibakar after a struggle of over two hours.Dibakar was taken to Digapahandi hospital only to be declared brought dead.Police sent the body to MKCGMCH for autopsy and investigating into the matter.
