Buguda,(Anil Kumar Maharana): Buguda Police Station Case No. 229/Dated 09.05.2026, U/S –85/115(2)/109(1)/351(2) BNS, accused Murali Behera (63), father – Punia Behera, village – Sorada, police station – Buguda, district – Ganjam, was arrested on the charge of attempting to murder his wife and was tried in court on 10/5/26, OIC of Balipadar K. Niladri Reddy announced. Sairindri Behera (53), w/o- Murali Behera, Village- Sorada, Police Station- Buguda, District- Ganjam, filed a written complaint that on 09.05.2026 at around 7.00 am, while she was engaged in household chores, her husband Murali Behera came home drunk and demanded money to buy liquor. She protested that while you are not giving money for the family expenses from your pension money, I am living a struggling life with two unmarried daughters. Hearing this, Murali suddenly got angry and hit Sairindri on the head with an iron rod with the intention of killing her. When Sairindri raised her right hand to save her life, fortunately the iron rod did not hit her on the head but her hand was deeply injured and bleeding. After this, Murali hit his wife Sairindri on the hand, back and leg with the iron rod and she fell to the ground. Sairindri further alleged that after she fell, her husband Murali sat on her chest and tried to strangle her, but when she screamed, the villagers rushed to the spot and rescued her. Sairindri also alleged that her husband had an illicit relationship with another woman, killed her and tried to bring her home to live with him. On the instructions of Buguda Police Station IIC Sitanshu Shekhar Mandhata, Balipadar Outpost OIC K. Niladri Reddy investigated and arrested the accused Murali Behera and produced him in court.
