Brahmapur,Two officials of Berhampur central coop bank(BCCB),including a lady, has been arrested by Gosaninuagaon police in Berhampur on fraud charge,today.The two identified as Debasish Pattnaik(40),native of Berhampur and Truptirekha Mohapatra(22)of Mayurbhanj district.Sources said,the arrested duo are working as manager and supervior at the Bijipur branch of the BCCB since 2022.Recently,while audit was conducted of the branch,it was found that over Rs 1.46 lakhs misappropriated.Accordingly the bank authorities started further verification and suspended three staffs of the branch including the duo.Today,chief excutive officer(CEO)of the BCC bank Bharat chandra sahu lodged a written report mentioning the name of three persons of the branch,with all the documentary evidences.The CEO,reported that,Debasis Pattnaik,Manager,Ajit Kumar Sahu,Cashier and Miss Truptirekha Mohapatra,Supervisor of Bijipur Branch fraudulently took loan in the name of customers and swindled the money to their own account,which withdrew later.He stated that as per the audit,so far approximately an amount of Rs. 1,46,46,000 /- (One Crore forty six lakhs forty six thousand) has been misappropriated through,Different loan disbursement without any documents,Withdrawal of loan amounts without any voucher,Transfer of loan amounts to own accounts and also to close relative’s accounts through NEFT without any voucher,Various deposit and withdrwl of funds from different customer’s accounts without any voucher and
Funds routed through the account of Mamata Manghwani,Wife of Debasish.During course of investigation Debasish and Truptirekha were arrested for the offence U U/S-61(2)/318(4)/316(4)/316(5)/317(5) BNS,said Berhampur SP,Dr Saravana Vivek M adding that all connected documents relating to the fraud loan against fraud documents by Debasish has been seized.However,the cashier Ajit kumar sahu not yet traced said the SP and added that the duo were forwarded to court and further investigation is on.
