CHIKITI HOOCH SURVIVOR DIES AT BANGALURU

Berhampur,Uneasy prevails in Jenapur of Chikiti NAC in Ganjam district,following death of a 36 year man under treatment at Bangaluru today.Sources said,last month five youths of Jenapur migrated to Bangaluru in search of engagement.They got engagement in a unit`Swasteid engineering pvt ltd` and were staying in a room on rent at City care market.On last 4th,they returned from duty and while cooking due to leakage of gas a fire mishap took place and all the five sustained injuries.The five Santosh behera(30),Pabitra sethy(35),Runa sahu(25),Duryodhan sethy(40) and Sarathi sethy(27).With over sixty percent burn injuries the five has been admitted to Victoria govt hospital.As the information reached their homes,their family members are worried a lot.As such the families of the five are poor and they dont have money to go to Bangaluru.Following their appeal,Ganjam collector Dibyajyoti parida directed the labour officer to follow up treatment of the five.However under treatment Santosh succumbed to his injuries and condition of rest four are improving.As the death information of santosh reached,a pal of gloom descended Jenapur.The family and villagers were worried a lot how to bring the corpse.However,arrangements were made to bring the corpse by a ambulance.Collector Parida also assured to pay a sum of Rs 30,000/-to the bereaved family,besides the assistance under Harischandra yojona.The irony is that,five persons of Jenapur died and another 23 persons fell sick after drinking poisonous brew at Mukundapur during August 2024.The sick persons were treated at MKCG MCH and returned to their homes.Later many of them left their native places in search of work.Among the five,those worked at Bangaluru,Duryodhan was one among the victims of hooch tragedy.
