Berhampur: Town police in Berhampur has arrested a 48 year old man for attacking Excise Constable and stealing seized IMFL from sealed Shop,today.The arrested man identified as Manoranjan sabat @ Mitu is managing a licenced IMFL OFF shop outlet near BSNL office.During October 2024,the outlet was sealed along with a good stock of IMFL bottles,by excise dept for violation of Minimum Guaranteed Quantity (MGQ)norms.But,on a side room of the sealed OFFshop outlet,IMFL bottles stocked illigally and sold clandastinely.On 14.10.24,while the Excise Constable Sabyasachi Mishra was checking the shop,sales boys indulged in illigal selling,reportedly assaulted him.Consteble Mishra lodged a complaint with Town PS and arrested 6 persons were arrested and forwarded to court.Today,following a brawl between two groups,reported at the spot,police reached there.Seeing the police the quarelling youths fled from the spot.However,since the sealed outlet is there,police verified it.As per sealed records,the outlet locked and wax sealed with a good quantity of illegally stored IMFL bottles.But the outlet found empty during verification,since the sealed outlet was under the custody of Mitu,police arrested him said Berhampur SP,dr saravana Vivek M adding that further investigation is going on.
