ANGUL : Today Rajnarayan Sahoo, Junior Accountant and Jiten Patnaik, Jr. Accountant both of O/o Civil Supplies Officer (CSO), Angul have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance *while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.50,000/- ( Rupees Fifty Thousand) from Manager of a Rice Mill (Complainant) in lieu of disbursement of bill amount of over Rs.60 Lakhs relating to Fortified Rice Kernals (FRK) in favour of the Rice Mill*. Since last one month, the Manager of the Rice Mill had been requesting the duo Sri Sahoo and Sri Pattnaik, both the Accountants of O/o CSO, Angul to release the pending amount. But, both the accused persons refused to release the FRK amount unless they were paid the demanded bribe Rs.50,000/-. Left with no option, the Manager reported the matter to Vigilance authorities, alleging harassment by both the Accountants. *Following this, the accused persons namely Sri Sahoo and Sri Pattnaik were nabbed today by the team of Odisha Vigilance, while taking the demanded bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complt*. The entire bribe money has been recovered from both the accused persons Sahoo and Pattnaik and seized.Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two places of each linked to Sahoo and Pattanaik from DA angle. In this connection, Vigilance Cell PS Case No.2 dtd: 3.3.2025 u/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused persons Sri Sahoo and Sri Pattnaik, both Accountants of office of CSO, Angul.Further investigation is on.
