NEW COLOUR CODE FOR SCHOOLS

Bhubaneswar:The earstwhile ruller BJD coloured all the govt buildings in green colour and after BJP assumed the power,it was expected the colour would be changed, but delayed. The Odisha government has approved a new colour code for buildings of all state-run schools, including PM SHRI schools amid the ongoing controversy over its decision to cancel Panchayati Raj Diwas celebration on March 5.The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has sent a communique on adopting uniform colour code for all government schools to the collectors of all 30 districts. “It is requested to issue suitable instructions to concerned field functionaries for adoption of the approved colour code in all government schools, including PM SHRI schools, during construction, repair and renovation works. This order would be in supersession of all previous instructions related to colour code of school buildings,” the letter issued on March 4 said.

The walls of the school buildings will be painted in the shades of orange frost with orange tan borders. This comes four month after the Mohan Majhi government changed the colour and design of uniforms for Class IX and X students of public and aided schools, replacing the green associated with the previous BJD regime with light brown and maroon. The BJP since coming to power in Odisha has also changed the colour of government buildings, LAccMI buses, road signs, wall posters and milk packets from green to saffron hue.Several elites has welcomed the move of the govt by saying that colour may not so important, but the face lift in shape of whitewashing certainly will make the buildings attractive and durable.
