Nayagarh:Odisha Vigilance today has arrested sub-inspector (SI) of police of Nayagarh’s Sarankul police station, Rajesh Kumar Srichanda, who was apprehended while accepting Rs 4,000 bribe on yesterday evening.According to a Vigilance release, the SI had demanded the illegal gratification to help the complaint’s father, pertaining to a case registered against him at the police station a few days back. The entire bribe money was recovered from his possession and seized in presence of witnesses.Later, simultaneous searches were conducted at his residential house in Bhubaneswar and his office room. A case was registered against him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.Srichandan entered the government service as SI of police in 2017 and was posted in various police stations in Nayagarh district. He had been serving at Sarankul police station since October 2024, the release added.
