Paralakhemundi:Many women in Gajapati district of Odisha have reportedly been deprived of financial assistance under the Subhadra Yojana scheme.This has led to protests by affected women across the district.The Subhadra Yojana is a flagship scheme by the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Odisha, aimed at empowering women through financial support, digital literacy, and access to social safety nets.However,due to callous attitude by the officials entrusted for the purpose,eligible women has been deprived of its benefits in Gajapati.Burning example is K.Sitapur panchayat in Kasinagar block of the district.Local sarapanch K.Tejeswar rao has alleged that over 60 women in the panchayat has been deprieved from the yojona.Not only that,one G.Nirmala of Bisiringi village under the panchayat,who received the first instalment of the Subhadra assistance in 2024,now has been shown dead in the records.Revealing the surprising incident Tejeswar said,Nirmala after receiving the first instalment was waiting for the second instalment.As it not reached her account,she complained to the sarapanch,who during verification found that Nirmala was shown dead in govt records.Many women in the panchayat deprived from the assistance,alleged Tejeswar and added that while some of them received first instalment some not yet received.He said,while Nirmala was shown dead,many others name deducted on the ground that they have property.But in reality they are poors and have no landed property.While the Subhadra scheme has been widely promoted,reports of women being excluded from the benefits raise questions about its effective implementation in the district.Further investigation is needed to understand the reasons for the reported deprivation of benefits in Gajapati and ensure that the scheme reaches all eligible women,said Tejeswar.On the otherhand,collector Bijay kumar das said the scheme is a continued one and any complaint cane be lodged on the portal on-line,which would be redressed.However,the process is not easy for the beneficiaries,as to enroll their names ,they have to run to the `Mo seva kendra`several times,which is a expensive and time killing process.
