Sambalpur: Rairakhol Police in Sambalpur district has arrested a BJD leader today for allegedly attempting to run his vehicle over a BJP zilla parishad member.The arrested has been identified as former BJD councillor Rajiv Lochan Pradhan, who had been absconding since the day of the incident captured in a CCTV camera.Speaking to the media, the BJP leader, Sarat Pradhan, said that the incident took place on April 12 night when he was supervising the flags being put up ahead of the Human Jayanti rally. “I jumped off the road as the former councillor attempted to run his vehicle over me. I lodged a complaint with Rairakhol police the following day,” he told the media.The BJD leader, on the other hand, refuted the allegation. “The complaint is politically motivated,” he added.This came a day after 11 persons, including two locally influential BJD leaders, were arrested for allegedly physically assaulting a man in an alleged kangaroo court over a social media post at Bishipada in Sonepur district.
