Rayagada:Tension continued to prevail in Hatapada street in Padmapur town of Rayagada district,for the second consequtive day wednessday.The tension created following the brutal killing of one Bhairav sahu(52)on the suspecion of sorcery practioner on sunday midnight.The residents of Hatapada street not only killed Bhairav,also attacked the Padmapur IIC,Dharanidhar pradhan and vandalised the police vehicle.Even the irate locals tried to destroy the house of Bhairav,but were chased away by police.Three platoon of armed police deployed at the spot.Police registered two cases against 60 persons,one for the murder of Bhairav and another for attacking the police.Yesterday night police has arrested 28 persons,including seven minors.While the major 21 were sent to Gunupur jail,the minors sent to Juvenile home in Berhampur.Following the arrest,the malefolk in the street abondoned their houses to avede police arrest,and now only aged persons are there.Yesterday,the body of Bhariv was handed over to his family after autopsy,but the residents opposed the cremation.Subsequently,the family,consisting of deceased`s wife,son and daughter,took the body of Bhairav to Nandigan village under Chikiti block of Ganjam district and cremated.Bhairav a native of Nandigaon shifted to Padmapur more than a decade back.Meanwhile police conducted flag march.
