Gunupur: In a act of selfless generosity,the tribal family of a brain-dead youth in Rayagada district has donated the organs of their son,saving the lives of four critically ill patients.Dilli Mandangi,a 24-year-old youth from Regeda village under Gunupur PS limits,was declared brain-dead following an accident.His father,Satya mandangi,made the decision to donate his son’s organs,including his kidney,heart,liver and pancreas.These organs were then successfully transplanted into four different individuals, providing them with a new lease on life.Sources said,on 8/5/2025,while Dilli along with his friend Dilli palaka of Regeda village while were proceeding to Kasinagar in Gajapati district met with accident.While Palaka died on the spot,Mandangi injured critically.He was immediately admitted to Kasinagar hospital and later shifted to GEMS medical college and hospital at Srikakulam in Andhra pradesh.He was kept on ventilator,but shows no improvement.Yesterda the doctors declared him brain dead.However,parents of Dilli decided to donate the organs of their son.As per the request of the Mandangi family the doctors at the GEMS MCH removed the organs successfully.The organs were transported to KIMS hospital at Visakhapatanam for transplant in four critical patients,said transplant coordinator of GEMS MCH.After successful removal of the organs,the MCH authorities thanked the Mandangi family for their generiousty and handed over the mortal remans of Dilli.Today,the mortal remans of Dilli was cremated in the presence of many including Gunupur MLA Satyajit gamango.The act of Mandangi family not only drew high appreciation,also set an inspiration for others said the elites who paid their last respect.
