Chhatrapur:Death of a minor boy allegedly of dengue in Badaaryapalli village under Chatrapur block has panicked the residents in the village.Sources said,the deceased has been identified as Mohit Kumar Sahu(13) of Golasahi in the village.He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital(SUM Ultimate) in Bhubaneswar and succumbed on Sunday.His brother, Rohit,is also infected and currently undergoing treatment in the private hospital.Besides,another 8 persons in the village,also undergoing treatment with similar symptoms.Sources said,the affected persons suffered from high temperature and bodyache since last six days.Though no authorities of district health department not available for comment over the spreading of the disease,but the sources in Vector Borne Diseases Control(VBDC)unit in the department said the death of the boy was due to septisemia,what the death certificate issued by the Bhubaneswar based private hospital says.It further said,another two of the village undergoing treatment at the same hospital,but tested dengue negative.Similarly another five of the village are undergoing at a private hospital(Yosoda) in Berhampur.The sources said,the affected persons has been advised to get examined at MKCG MCH.Meanwhile,a coordinated awareness drive has been launched in the village,which visited the village to raise awareness about dengue prevention. A door-to-door survey started said Dr. Swadhin Kumar Rath,leading the team.The team collected water samples from different spots where water was found stagnant.These samples will be tested in laboratories to check for dengue mosquito larvae.Health officials have asked people to stay alert, clean water containers and go to the hospital if they show symptoms like fever, body ache, or rashes.Arjyapalli Sarpanch Trilochan Behera with other officials monitoring the situation.Dengue is a water borne disease and is spread by the mosquito vector.As such Aryapalli village is prone to water borne diseases and last year 40 persons were affected in Dengue.This year as the disease started all possible precautions should be taken,ehorted the sarapanch Behera and urged the district administration to deploy a medical team.
