Bhanjanagar:Two women hacked to death in two separate places in Ganjam district during last 12 hours.An Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker was hacked to death by her brother-in-law on last night following a land dispute at Chadiapalli village under Jagannathprasad police limits in Ganjam district.The deceased has been identified as Bijayalaxmi Tripathi @ Tuni(46).Sources said,a long-standing land dispute between Tuni and her brother-in-law’s family had led to frequent altercations.Late night,a heated argument escalated into violence,during which the accused allegedly attacked Tuni with an axe, killing her on the spot.On receiving information,police reached the scene and launched an investigation.The accused identified as Ramchandra tripathy has been detained.Sources said,in the recent past Ramchandra attacked Tuni and a case was registered.Ramchandra was arrested and released on bail.The body was sent to Bhanjanagar for autopsy said police.The second incident took place in Naikanipalli village under Kodola PS limits.Wherein a 68 year old woman killed by her grandson.The deceased was identified as Ani Swain,a resident of the village and the accused,Chitrasen swain(19) her grandson.Sources said,Chitrasen was mentally unstable.Last night,an argument over a family dispute broke out between Chitrasen and grandmother Ani.Soon,Chitrasen lost his cool and attacked Ani with a wood plank.The villagers has alleged that,Chitrasen dragged her onto the road and started beating her up mercilessly.The assault was so severe that Ani died on the spot.By the time neighbours rushed to the elderly woman’s rescue, she had succumbed.They immediately called the Police, who reached the spot and nabbed Chitasen. He has been detained for interrogation and the body sent for autopsy.Police investigating to ascertain the reason of attack.
