Digapahandi:A 26 year old youth has been arrested on the charge of torturing a minor college girl,who ended her life fearing social stigma,in Digapahandi of Ganjam district.The arrested youth identified as S.Sanatan reddy,a tution teacherin Kandeswar village was forwarded to POCSO court at Berhampur on yesterday and remanded to judicial custody.The minor girl studying Plus II first year at junior college in Digapahandi consumed poison of 8/6/2025 and died under treatment on the nextday.On 12/6/2025 K.Loknath reddy,the brother of ghe deceased lodged a complaint against Sanatan and anothe tution teacher.Basing on the complaint police registered a case and sub-inspector Sofia mishra took up the investigation.Loknath in his complaint stated that his sister was studying at the tution of Sanatan Reddy since last one year and in his absence another tutor,S. Krishna Reddy used to taught the students.After her death,Loknath examined her phone and notebooks etc and gathered that she was exploited by the two tution teachers,what he mentioned in the FIR.He mentioned that,Sanatan had alured the minor girl assuring to marry her.He often telephoned her and also chated.As the relation developed,Sanatan took some photos of the minor.Similarly,Krishna too alured her by helping in securing more marks also took her photos.However,when the two tried for physical relation,she rejected their advances.The two has blackmailed her by threatening to post the her photos,mobile call records and messages on social media.Distressed by the threats and concerned about her family’s reputation, the girl consumed pesticide on night of 8/6/2025.As she vomited frequently,her parents asked her and she told that she consumed poison.Soon her family rushed her to the Digapahandi CHC and later shifted her to MKCG MCH IN Berhampur,but she died during treatment on 9/6/2025.After her final rites,Loknath came to know the reason of her suicide and asked Sanatan,who has confessed to having a relationship with her under the false promise of marriage.Accordingly Loknath lodged the FIR and basing on it a case was registerd and investigation started.The IO of the case,SI,Mishra have seized the girl’s diary, notebooks, mobile phone, photos, call logs and messages and arrested Sanatana on yesterday.However,the second accused, Krishna Reddy,is reportedly absconding.
