Berhampur, In 2012 year,the old indoor building in the Maharaja krushna chandra Gajapati medical college and hospital declared unsafe by public works dept.Subsequently over two dozen wards in the three storied building shifted to other buildings in the campus in phase wise,to fecilitate the demolition of the building constructed during 60`s.However the building,even after long 12 years the unsafe building remained as it was.Thanks to the callous attitude by the govt agencies.Now the unsafe building sorrounded by the multistoried buildings with specialised departments,has posed a threat to public,as well a mockery on the cleanliness of the MCH.MCH,Registrar Sangram Panda said,we vacated the old building in phases.Since 2022,the building was vacated totaly and it is the duty of PW dept to demolish it.The irony is that,the old building in delapedited state,still often used by outsourced cleaning and ambulance staffs.Panda said,the using was clandastinly,still we repeatedly informed them to not to use the old building orelse if any untoward arises,the MCH will not held.Now we are contemplating not to allow any one inside the old building,he said.On the otherhand the PWD put a dozen of warning boards with bamboo barricading around the old building.PWD,Supt engineer Somonath tripathy said,the matter has already been placed before the govt and also several letters sent to concerned higherup for demolition of the building.As per the norms,tender should be floated for the demolition,which not taken up sofar.The irony is that,the old building not only pose danger for public,also turned into a large heap of wastes.Now the building covered by shrubs and plants which made the three storied building green,giving a impression of a forest.On the otherhand,heap of dust seen in the old building and turned it into a safe place for insects including mosquitos and poisonous snakes.The building is vacated,but the lights are seen glowing in it.Contrary to the claim by MCH authorities,the unsafe buildings still in use by some MCH staffs.Portion of the old building was used as store and today,some vehicles seen parked near the said building.Even a staff also seen unloading some papers and other materials near the store.Incidently,the RDC(SD)is the chairman of the Swasthya Bikash Samiti of the MCH,wherein Collector,Sub-collector,DMET and elected representatives are member.Recently the odisha health minister and transport and mines minister had visited the MCH,surprisingly,the unsafe building missed their attention.
