Berhampur, Crop in Ganjam damaged very badly and the farmers must be compensated very quickly as they were in the time of my govt,said former chief minister and leader of opposition Naveen patnaik.Patnaik who has visited Ganjam today to take stock of the crop damages,said the victim farmers must be given compensation very very quickly.In his first visit to Ganjam,after election,Patnaik reviewed the crop loss situation caused by unseasonal rain at Seragada block, Hinjili block, Aska and Kabisuryanagar,today.Aftrer seeing the damaged farmlands,he also met victim farmers and inquired about crop damage and discussed the situation with the concerned officials.He assured that the BJD will ensure all affected are duly and immediately compensated by the govt.Rousing receiption was accorded to Patnaik at the places he visited.Amid tight security,the people in hundreds lined up on the side of the roads,wherever he passed.The BJD leaders,termed the visit by chief minister to the ravaged farmlands on yesterday,as a effort to clinch the limelight,saying that Naveen babu`s visit was announced much earlier.However,Naveen`s visit to Ganjam has forced the BJD leaders to show their strength,irrespective of groupism.It was learnt that the BJD leaders in the district were asked to bring people of their respective areas,tp appease their supremo.
