Berhampur : Gopalpur police under Berhampur has arrested a 48 year old man of Golabandh village for treating patients without possessing a valid doctors degree.Basing on allegations,that one Anil Kumar Sahu of Golabandha village is practicing medicine by impersonating himself as a regular doctor at his residence.He is regularly seeing patients and prescribing medicines to them and also selling the medicines then and there.To verify the veracity of allegations,police team led by IIC,Prashant kumar malik, reached the house cum clinic of Anil.A sign board was found hanging near the main door entrance on which Dr. Anil Kumar Sahu MMBS(AM)DMLT was written in Odia and English.Some patients and medicine representatives were found in waiting and Anil was found sitting inside a glass chamber.However when the IIC,demanded his credentials,Anil failed to give any satisfactory answer for his authority to treat patients and prescribe medicines.He,however,stated that he has obtained a degree from Calcutta and produced some certificates and documents which appeared to be of questionable origin and might be fake.At the room treatment aparatures were kept and when the IIC questioned,Anil admitted that,he has no authority or license to practice medicine and he has been impersonating himself as a qualified doctor since many years and treating patients.The innocent village people have no knowledge about his qualification and believing him to be a genuine doctor they are coming to him for treatment.The,IIC seized the certificates and other medical instruments at the spot in presence of witnesses and prepared the seizure list.Since the practice of medicines without qualification and license is a punishable offence and Anil is found to liable U/s 318(4)/319(2) BNS,a case has been registered against Anil.Anil has been arrested and forwarded to court said the IIC adding that investigation is on since when Anil started the medical practice.
