Paralakhemundi,(Tarini Prasad Panda): As many as 13,346.179 kg (13.346 metric tonnes) of seized ganja linked to 53 cases in Gajapati district was destroyed at the authorised incinerator at Sheragada in Ganjam district on Thursday, following due legal procedure and orders of the Drug Disposal Committee, Gajapati.
Of the total quantity destroyed, 11,541.429 kg was seized in 23 police cases, while 1,804.750 kg was seized in 30 Excise cases.
The disposal was carried out in the presence of Jai Narayan Pankaj, IPS, IGP, Southern Range, Berhampur, along with the SP, Gajapati; SP, STF Odisha; Superintendent of Excise; Executive Magistrate; DSP (HQ), Gajapati; district scientific officers; senior police and Excise officials and members of the Drug Disposal Committee.
The destruction was conducted in accordance with the prescribed legal and procedural requirements.
