Paralakhemundi:In a bizzare incident a man allegedly poisoned his son and daughter,besides self, in Odia street of Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district today.Sources said the man identified as Subhasis panigrahi(40) today noon had lunch with his son Bijayananda(8)and daughter priyadarshini(12)in his home.After sometime,the three screamed in pain,,what draw the attention of neighbours.Soon they reached and found the three lying on the floor in a critical condition.The three were rescued and admitted at Paralakhemundi Hospital for treatment.But,Bijayananda breathed his last at the District Headquarters Hospital.As the condition of Subhashis and Priyadarshini deteriorated,they were shifted to the MKCH MCH.Though the exact reason behind Subhashis taking the drastic step is yet to be ascertained,it is suspected that he was under severe mental pressure following the death of his wife Swetamanjari on March 21,2025 in a suspecious situation and a UD case was registered at Paralakhemundi PS.Receiving the information about todays incident,Paralakhemundi Police reached and sent the body of Bijayananda for postmortem and are interrogating the relatives and neighbours of Subhashis to ascertain some lead in the case.
