Rayagada:In December 2024,the residents of village Shakata,a tiny Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group(PVTG)of Muniguda block in Rayagada district,rejoiced when prime minister narendra modi declared it a prime ministers adarsh gram(model village).The hope for all round development of the village under Munikhol panchayat is inhabited by around 44 tribals,got a boost in January 2025,when Joint secretary of NITI Aayog,K.H.Rejimon,along with Rayagada district collector Parul Patwari and other district-level officials,visited Shakata.However,the villagers are waiting for the developments,although around six months of the announcement elapsed.The delegation of NITI Aayog during their visit reviewed developmental activities undertaken by various departments and stressed that financial assistance from NITI Aayog could further accelerate progress.They also extended various forms of assistance to local beneficiaries during the visit.The villagers primarily sustain themselves through farming on hill slopes and collecting minor forest produce,as no other earning sources.However,after the departure of the NITI Aayog deligation,no official visited the village,alleged the villagers.In the absence of earning,the youths are frustrated and left for other states,said sarapanch Paik jakaka.Incidently,the women folk in the village are lessed with the trational method of preparing thread,which now turned as timepass.Jakaka said,the village has a health sub-center,which remained locked since more than months.Similarly the education sector also left neglected said Jakaka and added that the school room which is in dilapedited condition,has pose danger for the kids.He said though the problems placed before local and district administration,nno attention has been given.The sarapanch said after the declaration of PM model village,11 families in the village included under PM janman yojona and were assured for houses.But the rest families still resides in their dilapedited houses.However despite repeated attempts no official be contacted for comment.
