Berhampur:When the proposal for U-shaped or semi circle seating arrangement is under active consideration across Odisha,the system started in Ganjam district.Initiating the unique method,Rangeilunda block education officer,Debendra behera,has appealed the head masters of different schools in the block to opt for the method.Following the request,Puspita panigrahy,head mistress of UP school at Bhabinipur held discussions for excution of the method.Soon,Nilima mohapatra,teacher of class-III placed the chair and tables in her class in U shape.The seating arrangement replacing traditional row-based seating,has been liked by the students and their parents. This change aims to promote better engagement and equality in the classroom by ensuring every student is within the teacher’s line of sight and can interact more effectively,said BEO,Behera.Local sarapanch Ranjit sahu,who witnessed the seating arrangement said this has eliminated the backbencher system.HM,Panigrahy said,with the teacher positioned at the open end of the U, there is direct eye contact and better interaction between the teacher and all students and hoped the arrangement to foster a more inclusive and dynamic learning environment.
