Paralakhemundi,(Tarini Prasad Panda): In a moment poised to be etched in golden letters in the spiritual chronicles of Odisha, the sacred and myth-laden Mahendragiri—revered as the “Himalaya of Odisha”—is all set to host its first-ever grand Kumbh Mela. This divine congregation, coinciding with the rare celestial phenomenon of “Joda Jyeshtha” (twin Jyeshtha month after 18 long years), promises an unparalleled spiritual awakening.
A high-level preparatory meeting, convened at the serene precincts of Mahendra Ashram under the dynamic leadership of Commerce, Transport, Mines and Steel Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, laid the foundation for this monumental program. Emphasizing discipline, devotion, and coordination, the Minister called upon the collective strength of administration and local populace to ensure a seamless and sacred program.
The rare alignment of two full moons in Jyeshtha month lends this occasion an extraordinary religious significance. Devotees thronging the holy slopes of Mahendragiri will be blessed with the opportunity of Kumbh Snan, believed to cleanse the soul and elevate spiritual consciousness. The air is already vibrant with devotion, as anticipation surges among pilgrims across regions.
Nestled amidst nature’s pristine splendor and divine tranquility, Mahendragiri is poised to script a new spiritual saga. With thousands of devotees expected, elaborate plans have been meticulously charted—ensuring provisions for drinking water, illumination, sanitation, security, and smooth transportation. A dedicated five-member core committee has been constituted to oversee the grand program.
To facilitate hassle-free ‘darshan’ and sacred bathing rituals, strategic deployment of volunteers has been planned, ensuring safety and sanctity throughout the event. Beyond its religious aura, this grand congregation is envisioned as a cultural beacon—projecting the rich heritage and tourism potential of Gajapati district onto the global platform.
The meeting witnessed the gracious presence of distinguished personalities including Special Development Council Chairman Kamadev Bada Nayak, Rayagada Block Chairperson Purnabasi Nayak, spiritual leader Swami Bhaskar Tirtha Laxmibaba, RSS District Sanghchalak Radhakrishna Jani, Juria Jani, senior leader Antaryami Gamang, Eco Development Committee President Sania Dhangada Bhuyan, and prominent BJP leaders Siddheshwar Mishra, Jaga Mahapatra, A. Srinivas Rao, Manas Ranjan Patnaik , Kahnu Charan Bhuyan, Bhagabat Paik, Gaurang Goud, alongside intellectuals and local representatives.
