Paralakhemundi,(Tarini Prasad Panda): Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Manoj Padhi (59) of the Police Intelligence Wing was killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles near Hadabhangi under Kashinagar police limits in Gajapati district on Saturday. Padhi was riding towards Gunupur when his motorcycle collided with a Bullet motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. He sustained critical injuries in the impact. The Kashinagar Tahasildar and the Sub-Collector, who were passing through the area on official duty, immediately coordinated rescue efforts with the help of local residents and alerted the police.
Kashinagar police shifted the injured officer to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Paralakhemundi, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the police department. Kashinagar police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
