Paralakhemundi,(Tarini Prasad Panda): An elderly couple from Gajapati district has left for Chennai in search of their son, Jitu Nayak, a migrant worker who has been missing for over two months.
Jitu, a resident of Kiraamba village under Mohana police limits, had been working in a hotel in Chennai for the past six years to support his aged parents. He regularly sent part of his monthly earnings home, which was their only source of livelihood.
However, his parents have neither received any phone call nor money from him for the last two months. They alleged that whenever they called his mobile phone, an unknown person answered in Hindi, saying Jitu was not there before disconnecting the call.
Fearing for their son’s safety, the couple lodged a written complaint with Mohana Police and appealed to the district administration and the Odisha Government for assistance.
Unable to bear the uncertainty, the elderly parents have now travelled to Chennai to search for their son. The incident has triggered concern in the Mohana area, with local residents urging the authorities to take immediate steps to trace the missing migrant worker and ensure his safe return.
