Paralakhemundi,(Tarini Prasad Panda): A woman was reportedly arrested by a team of West Bengal Police from Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a minor girl from North 24 Parganas district.
According to police sources, the minor went missing from the Habra area on July 31, following which her family lodged a complaint at Habra Police Station on August 1. A case, No. 477/26, was registered under Sections 137(2) and 140(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Acting on the investigation, a team of Habra Police reached Paralakhemundi and, with the assistance of local police, traced and apprehended the woman.
Sources said the woman had allegedly been in contact with the minor through Instagram. The investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances under which the minor allegedly came to Paralakhemundi and the role of the woman in the case.
The West Bengal Police reportedly conducted the woman’s medical examination before taking her to West Bengal for further investigation.
Police are also verifying reports regarding the woman’s alleged involvement in previous criminal cases.
