Berhampur: With the arrest of 7 persons,total arrest of the kidnap for ransom incident took place in Chikitigada in Ganjam district during January,rose to 12.Briefing to newsmen,Berhampur,Add SP,Seema swain said on 26/1/2025 one Amarjit Samanta Singhara(24)of Pahala in Bhubaneswar,has lodged a complain with K.Nuagaon police in Chikiti block that,he was in captivity of a group who kidnapped him and three others demanding ransom for their release.Accordingly,police registered a cas and investigated into.So far,the investigation of this case,it is learnt that the accused persons made criminal conspiracy and called Amarjit and others including a agent of a private finance company Foreminix Ind Pvt Ltd,to Berhampur with a pretend to finance their project.Accordingly,Amarjit,with finance agent Rabindra Kumar of Delhi and two others of Cuttack reached Berhampur on 23.01.2025 by a car.Soon after their arrival,the accused persons shifted them to another car and took them and wrongfully confined in a building near Khajuria on the outskrit of Berhampur and demanded one crore rupees as ransom or else they will kill them.As the four pleaded for their release,the accused persons beat them and shifted them in a hut near Chikitigada.The accused persons also threatened the four with poisonous snakes.On 26.01.2025 morning,Amrit somehow escaped from the hut and reached near by Chikiti Tahasil Office and narrated his ordeal to the staffs.On this being informed K.Nuagaon police reached Tahasil Office and hearing the occurrence from Amarjit,proceeded to the place of confinement and rescued the finance agent and two others.During investigation police nabbed one Pruthibiraj Sahu(24)near the confinement place.Subsequently,police nabbed Sashikanta Behera(45)and Prabir Kumar Sahu@ Papu(25).Though,the three revealed the identity of their other accomplices,but their accomplices managed to gave a slip to police.To nab them,police formed a special team,which nabbed,Ayushman Subudhi(26) and Rajesh Kumar Gouda(24),during 3rd week of last february,still the rest seven could not be traced.Yesterday the special team got a information that the absconders are hiding in Baliguda area in Kandhamal district.Soon the team reached baliguda and nabbed the seven identified as Nutan Kumar Patra(42)Sagar Prasad Sahu(22),Danda Maharana(41),Rabindra Mahanty@ Kainya(20),T.Ganesh Rao(32),Kartika Behera @ Anna @ Raja(31),Sunil Rao @ Chini(30).The seven has been forwarded to court today said the ASP adding that,besides the arrest,so far police also seized a cash Rs.2000/-(Two thousand rupees),04 mobile phones of victims,11 nos of mobile phone of accused persons and 3 nos of four wheeler.
