Ramgiri:In a shocking incident,two minors died and another two including a minor and a adult of a family fell sick,allegedly after eating chhatua(sattu)at Tulasinagar village under R. Udayagiri PS jurisdiction of Gajapati district.The deceased have been identified as Tulasi Badamundi (6) and Gunabati Badamundi (3).Meanwhile, Sumitra Badamundi (12) and her father, Arjun Badamundi (46), have been hospitalized in critical condition.Sources said,yesterday,the family received the chhatua from a Anganwadi worker at Ramgiri and ate.Later,Shiv Shankar Badamundi and his wife rushed Tulasi and Gunabati to Ramagiri Hospital around 1:30 PM on today after they complained of uneasiness.Despite receiving treatment, Tulasi passed away at around 4:30 PM.When the attending doctor Brajaraj Kar,inquired about their food intake, he was told another two of the family members had also ate Chhatua.Soon,Sumitra and Arjun,who were also feeling unwell, were taken to Ramagiri Hospital for treatment.
Later, all of the three were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital at Paralakhemundi.Unfortunately, Gunabati died at around 9:30 PM.Since their condition deteriorated further,Sumitra and Arjun were shifted to MKCG MCH at wee hours today.Both the patients taken to ICU.Though it was suspected that the four of the family fell sick after having Chhatua,but the reason from Chhatua or not,not ascertained.Meanwhile, Ramagiri police have launched an investigation into the incident.
