Phulabani:Gochhapada Police in Kandhamal district has arrested a 31-year-old man today, on charges of raping a six-year-old girl.The man has been identified as Ananta kudei and the heinous crime took place in Pahiraju village on yesterday evening.The accused and the victim reside in the same locality.Police sources said,Ananta came to the victim minor’s house while she was playing infront of her house.He offered her biscuits and took her away on his motorcycle.When the girl did not return home for a long time,her family began searching for her and found Ananta sexually assaulting the girl near a canal close to the village.Seeing the family,the accused ran away from the spot.The victim’s mother immediately took her to the hospital and lodged a complaint at the Gochhapada police station.Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and started search for Ananta.The victim,meanwhile shifted to DHH at Phulabani and her condition is reported to be stable.During search police nabbed Ananta and forwarded him to court after medical examination.The incident has spreaded a shock wave in the area.
