Phulabani:A special POCSO court in Kandhamal district has sentenced a 26 year old man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping,raping a 14 year old girl after kidnapping her from her home in 2021.Phulabani Additional district judge cum special POCSO judge Rajesh dash has also imposed a fine of rs 50 thousand on the convict Harisankar behera dalai of Tumudibandh area and if he fails to undergo an additional six months RI,said Asim praharaj,special public prosecutor.The court also directed the district legal services authority(DLSA)to pay a compensation of Rs 7 lakhs to the victim.The judge prounced his judgement today after examining and recording of 12 witness,statement of the victim and of police and doctor,besides the relevant documents.Harisankar had kidnapped the minor girl from her homein 2021 and kept her at different places till 2023,during which he had raped her multiple times.As the girl became pregnant in 2022 he terminated her preganacy.Again the girl conceived in 2023 and Dalai again tried for aboertion to which the girl opposed and informed her parents.Subsequently,she returned to her parents,who asked the parents of Harisankar for marriage of the two.The parents of the convict agreed,but denied later.During November 2023 the parents of the girl lodged a complaint with Tumudipandha PS and Dalai was arrested.
