A MOTHER`s APPEAL ON MOTHER`s DAY

Berhampur:A mother,who has donated her kidney to give a second birth to her only son,has made a fervent appeal to the Odisha chief minister Mohon charan majhi on the mother`s day,to bailout her from financial crisis.The 43 year old woman,S.Sarada of Jaydurga Nagar at Engineering School chowk in Berhampur,drew high appreciation for her scarifice for her son.She donated her kidney to her 17-year-old son,S.Sai Biswanath,after he was diagnosed with severe kidney failure.Born to S.Sarada and S.Sai Gopal,
Biswanath,was normal without any physical complicacies till he reaches 15 year.His health problems started when he lost his appetite and suffered from frequent fevers. Gopal a petty trader,despite his limited income left no stone unturned for treatment of his son,as the mental stress of Biswanath enhenced further.Worried by their son’s deteriorating condition,the couple took Biswanath to a private hospital at Vishakhapatanam.During examination,in 2023 the treating doctors diognosed the illness of Biswanath due to damage of his kidney.As the examination reports stated that 95 per cent of Biswanath’s kidneys were damaged,the worried of the couple doubled. However,a ray of hope kindlled when the Doctors advised them to arrange for a kidney doner to save Biswanath.Insted,the couple agreed to donate their kidney to save their son.After conducting necessary examinations the doctors found kidney of Sarada suitable.By the time Bishwanath underwent dialysis for three months.In 2024 February,the doctors removed the left kidney of Sarada and successfully transplanted in Biswanath.Now both mother and son are living healthy lives.In the process of treatment,the couple spent all their assets.As both the mother and son needs medication due to paucity of money,Gopal had appealed for government assistance to continue his son’s medical expenses.He appealed the Prime Minister, the President of India, the Chief Minister, the local legislator, and the district Collector for help.Following his appeal,Ganjam collector Dibya jyoti parida released a sum of Rs 30,000 from district Red Cross fund.However,the ongoing monthly medical expenses remain a burden due to Gopal’s limited financial means.Doctors have informed that both mother and son will require lifelong medical care.Gopal and Sarada now again appealed the administration for governemtn financial assistance.The couple said the other state government`s providing Rs 10,000- per month for kidney patients and if the process followed the couple with their son can survive.
