Berhampur : A yoga camp organised especially for the aged persons of the city by the “Maruti Walkers Club” was completed at Ramalingeswar Park,Berhampur on Saturday morning. This group of morning walkers joined hands with the Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari to organise the yoga camp. The Project Coordinator Dr. Sankar Majhi said it was an effort of their members to pass physical and mental well being, which they had to through regular morning walks and physical exercises. Yoga Guru Neelakhi Didi of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari was the instructor of this special yoga camp. The yoga camp was started from 1st May and completed on 10th May,2025. In the Valedictory Function Professor Kishore Chandra Rout, Bhanja Bibhag Sanchalak of Vivekananda Kendra graced as Chief Guest and Professor Sachidananda Patra, Odisha Prant Sampark Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra and Professor Gopal Krushna Panigrahi, Bhanja Bibhag Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra graced as Guests of Honour.
According to the Advisor Sanjay Sahu , they had designed the camp to fit to the needs of persons facing geriatric problems. The participants had no major restrictions expect to eat easily digestive food. A. Kesab Reddy, Secretary, said the first day of the camp started with loosening exercises. It involved different steps of “Pavanamuktasana” and “Bakrasana” etc. that is aimed at loosening up every joint and muscles of the body. The senior citizens who reached the camp at 6.30 a.m confided that despite the summer hot they had felt their limbs, joints, muscles light and free after the session of yogic asanas. An Walkathon on Yoga organised aimed at promoting public awareness about benefits of Yoga and healthy living.
