SURGEONS IN MKCGMCH SUCCESSFULLY REMOVED ARROW PIERCED IN TRABSL MAN’CHEST

Berhampur:Surgeons of Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajpati Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur has successfully removed an arrow lodged close to the heart of a man from Malkangiri.The man identified as Tripati Muduli(37)was admitted in MKCG Casualty on 09/06/2025 with an arrow lodged in his chest.The arrow had pierced his chest from anterior chest wall and was lodged in the thoracic cavity.Within few hours of his admission,an emergency team was constituted by MKCG authorities under Dr Sarada prasad sahu,HOD,Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery(CTVS) involving multiple branches like Radiology , Transfusion medicine, Pathology and the Surgery was taken up. The surgery team led by Dr Sarada and Anaesthesia team led by Dr Siba pr Dash and Dr Jagdeep Nayak ensured this surgery of over 3 hours went smoothly.The patient is in ICU and recovering well.He is under observation and may stay in the hospital for some more days.The CTVS department drew high appreciation from various quarters
for saving the life of a tribal patient through efficient team work.The rare surgery was performed in the hospital for three hours, and the arrow was removed from the lung.The arrow was stuck at a distance of 2 cm from the heart.Sources said,Tripati of Falkaguda village in Malkangiri,was attacked with a bow and arrow by his brother Hadi Muduli over a family feud on 8/6/2025 evening.Tripati,with a 25 cm arrow pierced on his chest and with 15 cm embedded inside,was rescued by the family and admitted to Khairiput Health Centre.After primary treatment,he was sent to the Medical College in Koraput for advanced treatment.However,he was reffered to MKCG MCH on on 9/6/2025 and the surgery was conducted .Dr Sarada and his team removed a piece of a knife that stuck in the chest of a youth since last two years.
