Paralakhemundi,(Tarini Prasad Panda): In a recent administrative reshuffle, Ms.Madhumita IAS has been appointed as the new Collector of Gajapati district. Prior to this, she served as the Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer (CDO-cum-EO) in Ganjam district.She replaces Bijay Kumar Das, who held the post previously. Bijay Kumar Das appointed as Additional Secretary to Govt Health and Family Welfare Department. This appointment was part of a recent reshuffle in the Odisha IAS cadre.
Madhumita hails from Samalkha, Panipat in Haryana, Her father, an ex-serviceman. She secured 96% in her 10th-grade exams and continued her journey with a BBA degree, later pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration.
She displayed exceptional academic prowess from a young age. She secured the first position in the Class 10 board exam in 2010 from Maharana Pratap Public School, Samalkha. In 2012, she achieved second rank in the Class 12 board exam. She pursued a BBA degree from Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET), Samalkha and emerged as the university topper.
Madhumita secured All India Rank 86 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination of 2019 in her third attempt. She is known for sharing her preparation strategies and study resources for other UPSC aspirants from small towns. On most sensitive district like Gajapati her span will definitely bring change & on development scenario what intellects feel. From all corners she has been lauded being the second woman Collector to reinstate after Mansi Nimbhal.
