Buguda,(Anil Kumar Maharana) : National Sports Day 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm on August 29 at Buguda People’s College in Ganjam district. The Government of India has decided to celebrate August 29, the birth anniversary of the great hockey player Major Gyan Chand, under whose leadership he brought pride and glory to India by winning gold medals in hockey in the 1928, 1932 and 1936 Olympics, as National Sports Day from 2012. On this National Sports Day, students of the +3 and +2 sports association of People’s College were brought together. On this occasion, a marathon race started from Buguda People’s High School Chowk and ended at the People’s College campus. Which created an enthusiastic tone for this day. After that, a sports competition was organized. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners. The program for this occasion was held under the chairmanship of Principal-in-Charge Harikrishna Nayak. Dr. Subash Chandra Parida, retired professor of Berhampur University, was the chief guest on this occasion and inspired the gathering by giving an inspiring speech. Eminent sports personalities Bhanja Kishore Goud, Somnath Goud, M. Shankar Dora and Harihar Biswal graced the stage and shared inspiring examples of their careers in sports. Sports teacher Krishna Rao Patra delivered the welcome speech for the program. The program was successful through the dedicated efforts of +3 Sports Association Vice President Lecturer Akshay Kumar Sahu and +2 Sports Association Vice President Lecturer Atma Prakash Nayak.
