Paralakhemundi,(Tarini Prasad Panda): In a resounding display of agility and determination, Gosani Thunders stormed to championship glory while Rayagada Warriors secured the runners-up position in the Under-14 Chief Minister’s Trophy Inter-Club and Inter-District Kho Kho Championship–2026, held at Venkateswara High School, Garabandha.
Organised under the aegis of the Gajapati district administration’s sports department, the tournament witnessed an electrifying participation of 14 teams, including 10 boys’ teams and 6 girls’ teams from across various blocks of the district.
The event was ceremonially inaugurated by BDO Gaur Chandra Patnaik, District Sports Officer Trinath Sahu, District Physical Education Officer Surendra Patra, and the headmaster of the host school. The presence of physical education teachers, volunteers, and police personnel added fervour to the occasion, inspiring the young players to perform with zeal.
Played in a knockout format, the championship unfolded as a gripping contest of speed, strategy, and stamina. In the boys’ category, Gosani Thunders showcased exceptional coordination and skill to clinch the coveted title, while Rayagada Warriors fought valiantly to emerge as worthy runners-up.
In the girls’ category, Rayagada Divas lifted the championship trophy, with Gosani Challengers finishing as runners-up. The winners and runners-up were felicitated by the distinguished guests amid applause and celebration.
According to the district sports department, the standout performers from the tournament will now represent the district at the zonal-level competitions, carrying forward the spirit and promise of Gajapati’s rising sporting talent.
