Berhampur,In a shocking incidentr,a man killed his married younger sister in Raipali village under Aska police limits in Ganjam district,today.The deceased has been identified as Laxmi Mohanty(35)while the accused has been identified as Babaji Patra(45),a Surat returnee,who attacked her with a muller thrasher,before sliting her neck by a knife.Sources said,Laxmi though married and blessed with a four year old son,but was staying in her parents house to take care of them.Her father Shatrughans patra and mother Tanu living in the house,as their two sons staying separatedly.While the elder son babaji was staying in Surat,the younger son at a another place.Today,Babaji came home and a hitch took place between them.Soon,Babaji attacked her head with the muller.As she fell down,Babaji slited her throat with a knife and fled from the spot.By the time their mother Tanu was on the roof of the house and when she came down hearing the commotion found Laxmi in a pool of blood.Hearing cry of Tanu,soon the neighbours reached there and finding Laxmi lying on the ground with slited throat and crushed head informed police.Receiving the information,Aska police reached the spot to investigate.Basing on written report complainat Satrughana,police registered a case No-42 Dtd 16.01.2025 u/s- 332(a)/103(1)/3(5) BNS /25(1)(a) Arms Act.Sub-inspector Gyana ranjan sethy is the investigation officer.Shatrughana and Tanu,reportedly told police that,despite their oldage ailment,their both the sons were staying separately,so we called laxmi to stay with us to take our care.But the elder son Babaji,often opposed the stay of Laxmi.However,the locals said a different story,they alleged that due to narcotic business,differences between the brother and sister started,which ended today in the brutal murder.However,Aska IIC,rajendra pattanaik said,Babaji Patra is elder brother of the deceased Laxmi Mohanty.In the recent past,the son of Babaji,died in a maysterious condition.After the death Babaji returned from Surat,but staying out of the house.Babaji suspected that Laxmi was behind the death of his son.Due to this the accused returned from Surat and seeking opportunity to kill to his sister. Today at about 4.30 AM when his mother went to her roof for worship the accused followed him and wake up to his sister. There is hot conversation in between them and on sudden provocation the accused stabbed to her neck and other part of body through a sharpe cutting Knief and also assaulted through a Muller to her head. As a result she succumbed at spot.The Knief, Muller and Sandal of accused has been seized said the IIC adding that Babaji who is on a run would be nabbed.The incident has spreaded a shock wave in the village.
