Brahmapur: Baidyanathpur police in Berhampur has arrested a 52 year old man,a habitual cycle lifter who stole the sleep of denizens.The man identified as P.Rajesh patara staying in Antaraba in Gajapati district was intercepted today morning while carrying a locked cycle.However,when questioned he fumbled,what raised suspecion and he was taken to police station.During interrogation,he broke and confessed that he indulged in cycle theft since past two months.Berhampur SP,Dr Saravana vivek M said,he used to target new racing cycles.After stealing them,he sold at Rs 2,000/- to Rs 3,000/-by stating the customers that his cycle shop has been closed and the stock of cycles,he sold at much lower price.Basing on his confession,police recovered 40 cycles and kept at the police station said the SP adding that the persons who lost their cycles can take back their cycles by presenting necessary documents.During investigation,it was found that on 6/12/2024 he was arrested by Badabazar PS and last week released on bail.Patra has been forwarded to court in the evening,further investigation is on,said police.
