Berhampur:False allegation of gang rape by a 27 year old married women has made the Berhampur police to spent sleepless night.As such,Berhampur witnessed two gang rape incidents last month and the allegation of gangrape under Nimakhandi PS are has brought the police on their toes.Berhampur SP,Saravana Vivek M said,yesterday evening,the police received information,that one woman allegedly raped by her husband along with his 3 friends on the day at their own rented house under Nimakhandi PS limits in Berhampur and the victim undergoing treatment at MKCGMCH.Soon,police swang into action and senior police officers reached the MCH,where the woman told that she was gang raped after they injected her with some drugs when she lost consciousness.She also alleged that when she regained her consciousness her husband had left her and had stolen all her jwellery and valuables.FIR was immediately registered and a police team consisting of SDPO Town,SDPO Sadar,IIC Nimakhandi PS and three Sub Inspectors were formed to investigate the truth.Medical examination of the woman also conducted.During investigation,police traced her husband(Aru patnaik),who denied the rape allegation and told that she has mental health problem.She used to quarrel with him for petty issues and yesterday there was a hitch and out of frustration,he left his home.By the time some locals gathered near their house and some one insisted her to lodge a complaint,so that police will bring him back.Further investigation also coroborated the statement of the husband, said the SP.He said,there is a CCTV covering the only entrance of the rented house of the complainant and screening of CCTV revealed that the allegation that three friends of husband visited her house was completely false.Except the husband and complaint no one else was seen in the CCTV.Victim was medically examined by Forensic department and there are no signs of forceful sexual assault.As per witnesses and also CCTV complainant and her husband were arguing in the morning near their gate and again during the afternoon.Later in the evening,husband was seen arguing and left the house by taking lift on a bike.
In FIR the complainant stated,she couldn’t find her husband when she woke up.As per eye witness,someone told her to give rape case at Police station only then her husband will be arrested.During investigation it is found that complainant was taking Placida tablets,which is used to treat psychogenic depression a mental health problem.Even,her 6 year old daughter revealed,her mother broke their piggy bank and took ₹120 from it to pay their school fees and after that mother and father fought severely.The husband also told police that,his wife to take revenge lodged the false case.Criminal action will be initiated for false allegations after the conclusion and completion of investigation,said Vivek.
