Paralakhemundi-(Tarini Prasad panda): Gajapati district a series theft done since last many days.That shouldered Gajapati police to trace out the culprit.As per information at Paralakhemundi in Batagouda street from a veteran journalist Dwijendranath Padhi’s home when family members were outside,theft done on 13th December 2025 around 8 to 10pm.That thief entered from backside of skylight of bathroom.He stole 25000 cash & few ornaments. Similarly at Kumuti street from one Korada Narayan Rao’s home on 22nd December 2025 that thief entered & stolen 2 silver lamp sockets(1kg),silver bucket (500gms)with cash ₹40000. Subsequently at S.Sandip’s home thief stolen on 22nd June 2025 midnight.He looted 10kgs of silver & 3 tolas of gold.Under Gurandi police limits at M.N.Peta village,from T.Labakumar’s residence looted around 2pm on 14th November 2025.That unknown thief looted about 90000 to 1 lakh cash,2 tolas of gold,silver cup & other silver ornaments weighing about 3 tolas.Behind these series theft one Durga Prasad Benia(28) of Kandara street of Paralakhemundi,working at TPSCOL as meter reader,has been arrested,along with his associate Deba Mandal,as both committed theft.They mortgaged those golds at various banks & availed cash. Though adequate test done on qualities of stolen ornaments,but in some gold finance institutions quality not tested.Police advised to be careful to all house owners & while away from home to be vigilant with some kiths or kins.Among those stolen items gold ornaments of 10 tolas out of which 2 tolas recovered at Muthhoot Finance Corp. Ltd, cash of 33000,silver ornaments of 9kgs,2 mobile phones, 2 2-wheelers, houselock breaking instruments like screwdriver & hand crowbar.Remained 2 tolas of gold mortgaged at IOB,Paralakhemundi will be covered on due course.This is one of the major success to strangulate goons behind series of thefts by Gajapati Police.
