Parlakhemundi, (Tarini Prasad Panda): Tata Power and the Electricity Department are not following the orders of the District Magistrate and the instructions of the Minister. Due to which a village in this district has been in darkness for 6 months. The main reason for this is the increasing atrocities of the contractor. Kundaising village in this district has been without electricity for the last 6 months due to the contractor digging up the earth and breaking the electricity poles as per the wishes of the contractor. The villagers have alleged that the darkness is causing various problems. The incident revealed ,
the Rural Development Department has started road construction work in Kundaising village. While the contractor digging up the earth from the hill and making the road, it broke 8 electricity poles that were lying along the road. In some other places, due to excessive digging of soil, electric poles have fallen down. Due to carelessness while digging soil with the help of JCB, such a problem has occurred and electricity supply has been disconnected since last September. It has been about 6 months since the incident. No, repairs are being made, no, the lights are on in the village. Although 350 families live in the village, the contractor has not paid attention even after repeated complaints. Therefore, the villagers were to approach the District Collector. However, they have not received any relief. After meeting the minister and informing him, he also ordered for a quick solution. However, no step has been taken. When Tata Power Executive Engineer Vijay Sahu was asked about this, he said that the restoration work will be done if the Rural Development Department grants come. While the villagers have been suffering in the dark for the last 6 months, the Electricity Department has made fun of them instead of cooperating with them. The department will be forced to take a proactive approach to get its due, said the village leaders Rajesh Rait, Anil Gait, Lavanya Shabar, Satya Rait, and Krishna Shabar.
