DEATH GIVES LIFE JIBARATNAM DONATES FIVE ORGANS

Paralakhemundi,(Tarini Prasad Panda): In a rare act of humanity, 45-year-old C.H. Jibaratnam of Gaudatalasingh village under Sabara panchayat in Gosani block of Gajapati district has given a new lease of life to others through organ donation after his death.
Jibaratnam died three days after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident near Jangalapadu village. He was reportedly walking towards Gangarajapuram village in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh to visit his father-in-law when an unidentified vehicle hit him and fled. He was first shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital at Paralakhemundi by Gurandi police and later referred to a private hospital at Srikakulam as his condition deteriorated.
After doctors indicated little hope of recovery, his family decided to donate his organs. Following his death, his heart, liver, kidneys and other vital organs were retrieved for transplantation, potentially saving multiple lives.
The Andhra Pradesh Government reportedly honoured the family with an appreciation certificate, while hospital authorities paid tribute to Jibaratnam for his noble gesture.
Jibaratnam, a carpenter by profession, belonged to a poor family and is survived by his wife, a young son and a daughter. Local social worker Binod Parichha and others have urged the government to provide financial assistance to the bereaved family.
Though his untimely death has left his family and villagers grief-stricken, Jibaratnam’s decision to donate his organs has transformed his loss into a gift of life for others. His act is being hailed as a rare and inspiring example of humanity in Gajapati.
