Berhampur,20th Jan, NIST,institution on the outskrit of Berhampur,has earned a niche at national level and the students should maintain,exhorted the speakers,today.To mark the 28th flundation day,a grand function was organised in the campus,being inaugurated by Dr.Sukant K. Mohapatra,Founder & President of NIST.Speaking in,Prof Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT Dhanbad,elaborated on the value of research, AI, and startups.Drawing inspiration from Hindu mythology, he highlighted the importance of analyzing stories to derive insights and creative ideas. He encouraged students to focus on specific domains, pursue research for expertise and aim for productization to achieve tangible impact. He stressed the significance of technology readiness in research and echoed the Prime Minister’s call for “Jai Anusandhan,” advocating for a culture of innovation.Brigadier Jagdeep Chauhan, Head of Army Air Defence College,shared nostalgic memories of his college days,emphasizing the bright potential he saw in the students of NIST. He commended the university for its academic excellence and the founders for building a transformative institution that has significantly contributed to the grassroots development of the region.Sharing insights about the Army Air Defence College as a center of excellence for training in advanced technologies, safety measures, and autonomous systems,Brig Chauhan,has announced plans for a future MoU between AADC and NIST to explore joint efforts in AI and security technologies.
Prof Ashok Ganguli,Director of IISER Berhampur in his address has praised NIST for its exceptional initiatives over the years. Drawing from his background in Physics, Chemistry, and Material Science, he emphasized the importance of fostering research and innovation in Odisha. He encouraged students to develop essential skills such as communication and writing, alongside their academic pursuits.Recalling Ratan Tata’s contributions, he urged students to embrace challenges, learn from failures, and strive for continuous growth and job satisfaction.Sashi S. Mohanty, CEO of Essar Steel,highlighted the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in the era of intelligent systems. He commended NIST for its legacy as a knowledge hub since its founding in 1996, its commitment to research, and its partnerships with industries to drive innovation. He emphasized the need for hands-on learning experiences and industry-relevant skill development.While,Prof Priyadarsan Patra, Vice Chancellor of NIST, highlighted the university’s accomplishments over the past 28 years,Dr. Bishnukar Nayak,Registrar NIST proposed a vote of thanks.
