Berhampur: A 53 year old youth, local BJP leader and a history sheeter of Kabisuryanagar area in Ganjam district short dead by unidentified miscreants today.The deceased has been identified as Laxminarayan Paikarai @ Kuna,was shot near Patharpalli village under Kabisuryanagar PS limits.Sources said,Laxminarayana while was returning to his village Athagarhpatana on his motorcycle,the miscreants who were hiding near a chicken farm in Patharpalli,suddenly cameout and opened firing on him.As a result of which,he received bullet injuries on head and fledd down.Soon after firing the miscreants fled from the spot and being attarcted by the firing sound some locals reached the spot and took hims to kabisuryanagar hospital.however doctors declare him brought dead.Receiving the information,several BJP activists including kabisuryanagar MLA,Pratap chandra nayak and police reached the hospital.Since tension flared up in the area,senior police officials with police force camping in the area.The body of Laxminarayana was sent back to Athagarhpatana after autopsy at MKCG MCH.However police said situation is under control.When asked,Ganjam SP,Subhendu patra said`Investigation is going on,at this stage it’s very preliminary to release any names,deceased victim Kuna Paikray was a sentenced convict of a murder case.He also had 15 cases against him mostly attempt to murder etc.Though the reason of attack on him not yet ascertained, but the motive likely,revenge as he had many disputes with locals of Athgadapatna.Incidently the murder is the second incident during last 24 hours in Ganjam district.Yesterday,50 year old Dushmant mohapatra of Sikula village under Purusotompur PS limits in the district was killed brutaly.When no one was arrested in connection with the murder,todays murder posed question on law and order in the district.In july 2024 one Trinath malik,a history sheeters was shot dead in Kabisuryanagar.Many elites are of the opinion that the situation has proved the criminals has no fear of police,which should be checked,they added.
