Berhampur: A 41 year old woman died on the spot and another 4 including her husband,injured serious when their auto was hit by a carriage van at Budhighara chowk on NH-59 under Berhampur sadar police today.The deceased has been identified as Rajani behera,a daily wager of Kukudakhandi.Sources said today morning Rajani with her husband Pandab behera and three others boarded the auto to work at nearby Raijholo village.However,the coconut loaded van hit the auto.The hitting was so severe that the passengers threw away at around 10 feets and the auto turned turtle.Soon the locals rescued the passengers and sent them to MKCGMCH.However,the doctors declared Rajani brought dead and treating the other four.Soon the locals blocked the NH,forced hundreds of vehicles to stranded on both sides.On being informed police reached the spot and seized both the accident met vehicles and also detained the van driver Nilambar behera for questioning.The locals said despite their repeated demands for road dividers at the chowk no steps were taken,as a result of which the chowk turned into a accident prone.The road blocade withdrawn and traffic resumed after around three hours,following the persuation and assurence to place their demands before concerned authorities for immediate consideration.
