Berhampur:To check growing crimes under various police stations of Berhampur police district,a drive against criminals has been started.In a major operation against antisocial elements, Berhampur Police arrested twelve individuals and recovered a cache of illegal weapons,including pistols, ammunition, and sharp-edged weapons during last 24 hours.The arrested persons were identified as Bhalu Samal (46), Lingaraj Samal (22), Satyaban Das (21), K Prasad Rao (29), Mantu Gouda (21), Rakesh Padhi (25), Partha Das (22), Ranjan Nayak (26), Ashok KUmar Panigrahy (30), Tuna Nayak (28), Sangham Panigrahy (27) and Ajit Sethi (26).The 12 are history sheeters and facing cases at different PS,said IG(SR)Nitin shekhar.Police seized six pistols, twelve rounds of ammunition, two swords, an iron rod, and seven mobile phones during the raids conducted during last 24 hours.The operation is part of an intensified effort by Berhampur Police to curb crime and ensure public safety said Berhampur SP,Dr Saravana Vivek M adding that further investigations are on to determine possible links to larger criminal networks.
